e are seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Thermal Analysis Team supporting our Launch Vehicles program in Chandler, AZ. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in thermal engineering and heat transfer analysis, with experience supporting complex aerospace systems. This role involves analyzing thermal behavior of avionics, structures, and liquid propellants for launch vehicles and space systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform thermal engineering tasks involving analysis, design, and/or testing under minimal supervision.
Apply classical heat transfer theory and engineering principles to predict temperature behavior of aerospace components in both ground and flight conditions.
Perform thermal protection system design and analysis using industry-standard tools.
Conduct thermal modeling using tools such as Thermal Desktop, Sinda/Fluint, ATAC, or equivalent.
Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards (commercial/military).
Prepare and deliver detailed technical documentation and thermal analysis reports in support of design, integration, and test activities.
Analyze and interpret data from flight logs, material tests, and ground testing to inform thermal models.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support vehicle design and mission success.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related thermal sciences with 12+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.
Demonstrated work experience in thermal analysis, heat transfer, and aerospace systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Working knowledge of thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, Sinda, MATLAB.
Familiarity with thermodynamics, aerodynamics, compressible flow, and fluid mechanics.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Solid problem-solving skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).
Ability to work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on thermal sciences.
Experience supporting missile systems, launch vehicles, or spacecraft programs.
Familiarity with environmental testing and thermal protection materials.
Experience working in a classified or DoD engineering environment.
