The IRS is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Office Automation Specialist to provide technical and administrative support for investigative technology systems. This role involves supporting field agents and specialized investigative units by optimizing office automation tools, managing data flows, and assisting with the deployment and sustainment of technology platforms used in financial investigations.

You will serve as a critical support link between investigative teams and IT resources-ensuring technology enables efficiency, security, and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level support on office automation tools (Microsoft Office Suite, data tracking platforms, internal IRS systems)
  • Assist in the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of investigative software and hardware systems
  • Automate repetitive administrative processes using scripts, macros, or productivity tools
  • Maintain detailed documentation of processes, procedures, and system changes
  • Collaborate with investigative staff to understand their technical and administrative needs
  • Analyze workflow and propose solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Support data collection, organization, and preparation for case files or legal proceedings
  • Ensure compliance with all IRS technology and data handling policies
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in office automation, IT support, or investigative technology environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Windows OS, data management systems, and scripting tools (e.g., VBA, Power Automate)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working in a federal or law enforcement environment preferred
  • Familiarity with handling sensitive data and adhering to privacy guidelines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Position Details:

  • Pay Rate / Range: $20-22/hr


The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position's responsibilities; the candidate's experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions.
