General Summary:

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer with hands-on expertise in satellite communications, model-based systems design, and system-level performance analysis. In this role, you will contribute to critical defense technology programs by leading the design, integration, and evaluation of ground-based satellite infrastructure. This position provides the opportunity to influence the full engineering lifecycle—from conceptual architecture through fielded deployment—while working alongside domain experts in a secure, high-impact mission environment.

Security Requirement: Active U.S. Secret Clearance required (must be currently active or active within the last 24 months). U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Responsibilities:
• Architect and analyze end-to-end performance of ground system components supporting secure satellite communications (e.g., AEHF, DSCS, WGS, MILSATCOM)
• Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to derive, document, and trace requirements across complex systems and mission threads
• Perform system-level modeling and simulation to predict behavior, inform design tradeoffs, and evaluate architectural resilience
• Conduct technical reviews including Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) to validate design maturity and mission readiness
• Translate high-level system concepts into detailed implementation stories, design patterns, and interface definitions
• Plan and execute Integration & Test (I&T) and Verification & Validation (V&V) phases to ensure alignment with performance and mission requirements
• Coordinate system behavior threads across hardware and software segments, including third-party and external interface integrations
• Identify risks and capture opportunities early through proactive design trade studies and gap analysis
• Apply analytical tools including MATLAB and Python for performance assessments, system simulations, and automated data evaluations

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements decomposition, interface definition, and system-level problem solving
• At least 2 years of applied programming or scripting experience, preferably in MATLAB and/or Python
• Demonstrated experience working with U.S. military satellite communications systems (e.g., AEHF, DSCS, WGS, MILSATCOM)
• Proven ability to drive results across MBSE, modeling, and performance simulation workflows
• Experience contributing to or leading activities related to integration, system testing, and verification/validation cycles
• Familiarity with engineering milestone reviews such as TRRs, CDRs, and PDRs
• Strong understanding of mission-critical system interdependencies and operational readiness assessment
