The JDISS JPO directly supports Intelligence Mission Applications in response to Commander Joint Chiefs of Staff requirements, and is the program of record for SCI-level Global Command and Control System (SCI GCCS). What You'll Get to Do:
Configuration Management Tasks:
Maintain the integrity of the CM databases and coordinate with external staff to ensure change control forms move correctly through their life cycles.
Perform tasks of software CM, extracting baselines and other releases, and cutting of media from the CM repository.
Perform software CM tasks following guidelines provided in the Naming Conventions Standard and guidelines for creating filenames in the CM database (see CMP).
Execute controlled Baseline Management practices, using the CM database, for program software and documentation.
Maintain the CM Library and accompanying database. Manage the check-in/check-out, duplication, labeling, and organization of all library contents.
Provide the first line of defense in adhering to and enforcing CM standards and practices throughout the JDISS Program.
Perform all Media Distribution tasks, to include monitoring orders for media, obtaining or duplicating requested media, and following prescribed procedures for shipping media (particularly stringent for classified media).
Adhere to all authorized cross domain transfer processes.
Support the CM Group in all daily CM tasks, as identified in the CMP and directed by the CML.
Technical Writing / Documentation Support Tasks:
Supports the senior technical writer in day-to-day tracking of documentation tasks, from initial startup through delivery to CM. The technical writer has the following responsibilities:
Check the CM Database each morning for software or documentation that is ready for Documentation Group creation, review or edit.
Meet with the DM each morning to review the Work In Progress (WIP) and evaluate any issues or needs.
Ensure that documentation is passed to the correct functions, as documented in JDISS processes.
Maintain the Redline Library of current WIP tasks from beginning to completion.
Create or edit Installation Procedures, Configuration Guidelines, Technical Bulletins, Software Test Descriptions, Software Test Reports, System Security Test Reports and other documents as required in support of JDISS products and deliverables as prescribed in the JDISS CDRL and SOW.
Publish field-ready documents for use by the customer, installation team, or testing functions.
Monitor and update document lifecycle states in the CM Database.
Coordinate with Systems Integration staff as needed to obtain additional information regarding documentation or product.
Proofread and redline documentation for format consistency, grammatical correctness, and typographical errors.
Review and rewrite documentation to ensure information and instruction are clear and concise.
Prepare the final documentation package for delivery to the external testing functions via CM.
More About the Role:
This position blends Configuration Management (CM) expertise with the ability to perform Technical Writing / Documentation Support tasks. Time will be split between CM and technical writing / documentation tasks in support of the JDISS JPO.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
BS in IT or hard sciences AND 4 years' experience or 7 years' Configuration Management OR 7 years' Technical Writing experience .
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience working with Razor CM system.
Experience with JDISS CM library.
