16th WS, servicing worldwide combatant command operations, tailors, integrates, and validates terrestrial and space weather intelligence products and services for the Air Force Weather Weapons System. They tune and advance the DoD’s only computerized worldwide cloud forecast and analysis capability, supporting an array of national agencies and DoD users. Using a Xeon E5-2680v3 12C Super Computer, 16th WS developers operationalized the Global Air-Land Weather Exploitation Model, the Air Force’s first global weather modeling system in 20 years; developing and deploying the DoD’s first convective scale ensemble forecasting suite, delivering rapid refresh of computerized model data for Remotely Piloted Aircraft support and decision-grade stochastic products to over 5,000 users; establishing the first Weather Services Live, Virtual, Constructive platform for future modeling and simulation uses; delivering decision-grade information and services through the Air Force Weather Web Services and pioneering the Air Force’s first mobile weather application for integration with 3,000 Electronic Flight Bag mobile computing platforms.

Candidate will be working within the Technology Exploitation team of the 16th Weather Squadron. The squadron is responsible for software development in a number of languages. Primarily languages include but are not limited to Object Oriented Python, HTML5, JavaScript, IDL, and C++. As a member of an AGILE Development Team, primary responsibilities will be to work with other squadron Developers and Information Assurance experts to facilitate cyber security related activities: Interface with the Information Assurance team and other Developers to help develop plans/processes for obtaining reportable stats such as code coverage, performing/establishing process for threat modeling, etc.; Assist Information Assurance Team with understanding software implications of Fortify scans, coordinate with programmers to provide recommended fix actions to findings and potentially fix issues themselves; Serve as the primary point of contact for developer related questions from the Cyber Security office. Individual will assist with development and maintenance of related software systems covered by the squadron AGILE Team.

• Possess at least five (5) years of experience with and/or education in software development, familiarity with
Security Technical Implementation Guides relating to software development and certification, and software
development methodologies.
• Some familiarity with JAVA is desired
