Title: Editor (Geospatial) Location: Springfield, VA Compensation: Competitive hourly pay plus benefits
Work Requirements: Work with analytic authors and dynamic production teams to edit, format, and disseminate various geospatial intelligence reports according to established publication policies, writers' guides, style manuals, and sourcing standards for GEOINT products. Provide a full range of support in the production and dissemination of finished GEOINT products, including editing intelligence documents, working with analytic clients and authors to determine the appropriate reporting mechanism for conveying GEOINT to external clients, and managing the production of NGA GEOINT products and ad hoc taskings. Review, analyze, and correct draft material for clarity, consistency, style, format, logic, organization, grammar, word usage, spelling, and punctuation. Perform structural, substantive, and copy edits of analytical manuscripts for organization, completeness, logic, accuracy, and compliance with language, style, and formatting. Review products dealing with complex analytical intelligence issues and provide guidance to geospatial intelligence analysts and other editors regarding logic, clarity, comprehensiveness, relevance, and brevity. Work closely with analysts, from the early stages of manuscript development through the entire publishing process, including final reviews of text, graphics, and other formats for NGA intelligence products to help them organize and refine analytic content into an effective product.
Basic Qualifications: -Experience with the US intelligence community -Experience with problem identification and analysis -Knowledge of government-mandated plain language principles -Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat -Knowledge of professional electronic software, including Adobe InDesign -Ability to ensure consistency in content, clarity, and appropriateness for intended audiences -Ability to manage time and effort, including prioritizing work and handle multiple, simultaneous due dates -Active TS/SCI clearance -BA or BS degree in English, Journalism, Communications, History, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, or Professional Writing and 3 years of experience with professional, dedicated editing or 5 years of experience with professional, dedicated editing in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
Additional Qualifications: -Ability to work independently and as part of a team -Possession of excellent writing and grammar skills, including a mastery of grammar, word usage, spelling, and punctuation -Possession of excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
