DSA is seeking a high energy, innovative, and imaginative Business Research Analyst with 3-7 years of experience to join our Client Department in Fairfax, VA. The successful candidate will support corporate business development activities. The successful candidate will operate as a member of the business development team and must possess the skill and acumen to work with DSA employees/technical staff, consultants, and business partners in completing assigned business development projects. The Business  Research Analyst is responsible for performing business and market intelligence in support DSA's pursuit of Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts, IDIQ task orders, and Full & Open contracts. The Business Research Analyst will support business planning across the Client life cycle relative to the pursuit of these various opportunities. This includes: performing general market research and analysis; researching information and data relative to identifying and validating specific business opportunities; performing market and business intelligence research to support Client Department account management and customer and partner interface; performing market and business intelligence research to support business capture activities; performing and documenting research on industry trends and companies; serve as subject matter expert on all DSA market and business intelligence tools, to include GovWin, FedBiz, and others; advise the SVP, Client on other tools that DSA can employ to support business research; maintain the DSA market/business intelligence library on the corporate intranet; support inclusion of specific pursuits into the CRM; and support near-, mid-, and long-term business planning.  The Business Research Analyst reports to the DSA Senior Vice President, Business Development through the Business Development Operations Manager.

 

Responsibilities:


  1. Support General Corporate Client Activities:

    • Perform market and business competitive intelligence to support accomplishment of DSA corporate and business unit goals and objectives. 

    • Coordinate continually with Client Department, business unit (BU) operational managers, and DSA staff to identify, develop, refine, and document market/business competitive intelligence in support of corporate and BU business, campaign, and capture plans.

    • Serve as the subject matter expert for GovWin, FedBiz and other tools used to perform market/business competitive intelligence research.

    • Perform market/business competitive intelligence in support of the Snr Dir Client for the IDIQ COE and other Client managers as it relates to the pursuit of IDIQs and IDIQ task orders.

    • Assist the DSA Solution Architect by performing market research on technical matters related to developing solutions for proposals and for operational programs.   

    • Support preparation of DSA CRM, as directed.

    • Develop and maintain expertise on DSA offerings, capabilities, past experience, past performance, technical methodologies, and approach to program management.

    • Support preparation of White Papers, concept papers and unsolicited proposals.

    • Support Internal/External marketing of the DSA portfolio.

    • Provide documents and data in support of DSA's corporate quality programs.



  2. Support DSA Corporate Strategic Planning and Execution:

    • Perform market research in support of BU business and campaign plans.

    • Perform market research in support of DSA corporate growth strategies and Client initiatives.

    • Perform market research in support of BU business and campaign plans.

    • Perform research to support identification and analysis of long-term business opportunities.



  3. Support DSA  Corporate Account Management:

    • Perform market/business competitive intelligence research and provide requisite documents to support meetings with current and target customers and to support the Client Department and BUs in shaping customer requirements.   

    • Perform market/business competitive intelligence research and provide requisite documents related to industry trends and specific companies to support customer and industry meetings. 



  4. Support DSA Capture Management:

    • Perform market/business competitive intelligence research and provide requisite documents to assist in Client and BU managers in identifying and qualifying long-, mid-, and near-term business opportunities.

    • Research industry and related events, publications, and business opportunity announcements to support specific capture initiatives.

    • Research and provide associated historical documents on specific opportunities to support campaign and capture plans.

    • Support the Solution Architect and other managers in researching specific technical matters related to the development of DSA proposal and operational solutions.

    • Support preparation of Requests for Information and respond to Sources Sought Announcements, as directed

    • Support development of bid/no-bid recommendations for opportunities, as directed.

    • Support preparation and delivery of capture and gate reviews, as directed

    • Perform research to support Client managers in developing teaming relationships and  assessing teaming partners relative to specific pursuits



  5. Support DSA  Proposal Development:

    • Perform market/business competitive intelligence in support of DSA proposal development. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

      • Market trends

      • Customer organizations and leaders

      • Customer organization requirements

      • Incumbent contractor work requirements

      • Identification and vetting of large, medium, and small business partners and competitors



    • Perform research in support DSA proposal strategy development.




Required Qualifications:

Experience and expertise performing business development in an information management / information technology/technical professional services firm.  Specific required qualifications:



  • 2– 10 years of experience performing market and business competitive analysis in an information management / information technology/technical professional services firm.  

  • Demonstrated success in performing the business analysis function in support of DoD and Federal government agencies.

  • Demonstrated experience in performing business analysis in support of planning, capturing, and winning business

  • Demonstrated experience in performing business analysis in support of preparing and implementing of business, campaign, and capture plans.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of defense industry and companies operating in the DoD and military services-related information technology sector.

  • Expertise in using Deltek GovWin, FebBiz and other market intelligence tools to perform market research.

  • Expert computer skills to rapidly perform and document research. This includes proven ability to quickly learn and apply new software tools.

  • Proven skill in documenting and delivering results of research in writing and verbally in a highly dynamic, rapid pace work environment.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Project.

  • Superior verbal and written communications skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in a subject that supports this position.


Desired Technical Qualifications:


  • Advanced Microsoft Power Point and graphics skills.

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills, to include ability to perform as desk top publisher.

  • Advanced computer skills as evidenced by current understanding of the various tools that can support business analysis function.

  • Recent experience working in company that supported DoD and Federal civil agencies/departments.  

  • Recent experience working in company that supported US Air Force-, Army-, Navy and/or IC-related agencies/departments.

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following DSA offerings: Systems Engineering & Integration, Enterprise Collaboration and Knowledge Management (KM), Software Services, Cyber Security and Operations, Cloud Services, Systems Modernization, Data Analytics, and Critical Infrastructure Intelligence.

  • Completion of proposal training, such as Shipley.
