Job Description

* Education/Training (both required and desired):
+ Bachelors Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline required
+ Degree may be waiver eligible with 5 years experience in addition to below requirement

* Experience:
+ 5+ years of professional experience in the required task area
+ Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
+ Domain Name System (DNS)
+ Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
+ Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
+ Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
+ Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and DHCP, including experience of resolving complex networking problems
+ Firsthand experience with the networking products of major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, and BigIP)
+ Microsoft Windows, Unix/Linux Operating systems and SAN Storage systems knowledge and proficiency with the related disciplines
+ Protocol analyzer tools and debugging tools
+ In addition to the minimum capabilities listed above, additional capabilities that would be beneficial in performance of Senior Network Engineering tasks include, but are not limited to:
+ Experience with Quality of Service, Internet Protocol Security (IPSec)
+ Experience with Multicast and load balancing techniques

* Security:
+ Must be a US citizen
+ Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Expertise and Functions

* Perform technical analysis for subsystem components and/or software, component validation/verification, risk analyses and assessments of component supportability and design effectives in the context of subsystem or other derived requirements

* Apply focused or specialized knowledge to resolve design issues that have an impact to subsystem or task area

* Perform analyses for one or more subsystem components to include design, fabrication, test, integration, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal

* Ensure the logical and systematic derivation of component and associated interface requirements into design solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints; identify and quantify associated risks

* Perform functional analysis, detailed trade studies at the component or piece-part level, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate component requirements into hardware and/or software specification

* Configure Cisco Switches, routers, and IDS/IPS

* Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure 802.1x authentication solution

* Maintain and update inventory of required switches, routers, etc

* Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure Orion Solar Windows Network and Log/Event Manager (LEM)

* Maintain network topology diagrams across multiple networks

* Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure client (PCs/Solaris/RHEL) machines to network switches

* Create, maintain, and troubleshoot Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)

* Create, maintain, test, and troubleshoot DHCP/DNS Server functionality

* Test and troubleshoot client (PCs/Solaris/RHEL) machine network connection issues

* Follow AF/DoD regulations and SMXG Operating Instructions on Cyber Security best practices and policies

* Other duties as assigned
