Jacobs is seeking a Network Architect with an Active TS SCI with Polygraph clearance to join their team at their customer site located in the Reston, VA area.
Perform as Lead Engineer and technical lead expert for design of enterprise wide and/or Intelligence Community (IC) wide networks and lead Tier 4 network configuration/performance problem resolutions
Provide user support and training
Design network solutions based on customer requirements using the Cisco Nexus family of (7K, 9K series) equipment
Provide trouble resolution for features not operating as advertised
Identify the complex issues and when necessary involve the vendor to resolve the unexplainable
Test new releases, developing the migration strategy and upgrade procedure
Maintain a relationship with the vendor and working with them to insure gaps in our customer’s requirements are being addressed in future software releases
Works with the customer to determine network requirements, write system requirement documents, and develop design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with the best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines
Evaluation of vendor’s new software releases
Put out a weekly consolidated activity report and write CLI and Shell scripts, and database queries
Perform (intermediate level) configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of IP network infrastructure (LAN and WAN devices)
Active TS SCI with Polygraph Clearance
BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience
Requires a working knowledge of STP, VTP, Virtual LAN’s and Trunking (VLAN’s); Network Security (ACL’s, IPSEC Tunnels); SONET, ATM, MPLS, POS, Multicast and how to properly implement these technologies.
Possess the ability to author system design documents, system adminstration and operations manuals, user guides, security plans, and training documentation. Have excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
Understand the new features of the Nexus eqipment, Virtual Port Channels (VPC), bonding server NICs and Virtual Device Context (VDC), one physical device supporting multiple networks
Strong knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco & Juniper)
Have an understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP)
In-depth understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting; Network Address Translations; MTU; QoS
Possess CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, CCIP, CCDP, OR JNCIS; or 15-20 years of experience in IP network technology.
Work Environment: Fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the company and Customers. Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
Equipment and Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance:Attendance is critical at all times. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
