Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of RF equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment. Products will cross various levels of reuse and complexity. This position requires experience with CAE, CAD, and CAM tools. The RF engineer must be capable of leading the design effort by both performing the electrical design and coordinating the work of others from various functional areas required for the design, build, and test. Cost and schedule adherence is also required.
Experience in UHF RF component, module, and system designs working from proposal through to site acceptance
General knowledge of the principles, theories, and concepts used in phased array radars
General knowledge of other related disciplines (Digital, Analog, Firmware, Software, and Mechanical)
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with the Harris organization objectives
Develop solutions, under general direction, in conjunction with adjunct engineering groups to include trade studies, design, analysis, and simulations
Participate in engineering design peer reviews as an originator or reviewer to ensure engineering rigor appropriate for each project's current lifecycle phase
Producing products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means.
Works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development of engineering artifacts
Provide specifications, drawings, ICDs and other technical documents as required
Present technical briefings at informal meetings
Support the Project Manager (PM) for successful completion of modernization and sustainment projects
Complete other duties as assigned
Travel to radar sites to support Field Service Team activities, analysis, test, and deployment as required
6+ years experience with BS/BA (Bachelors) or equivalent
Preferred Additional Skills:
3+ years’ experience with the entire lifecycle of military RF product development from proposal and requirements, development, production, installation and acceptance.
3+ years experience with general electrical circuit analysis tools (SPICE), RF specific tools (ADS, Genesys, or MWO), and printed circuit board layout tools (Altium ( preferred ), Mentor Graphics, Cadence, OrCAD, etc.)
Prior experience supporting phased array radars in RF development, sustainment or test activities.
