Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, talented, and diverse individuals. Primary work location is in Los Angeles, CA in support of a customer based at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA.
The candidate responsible for this position is expected to provide systems engineering support for the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) in support of the SMC Enterprise Systems Engineering Counsel (ESEC). Will also support the definition and implementation of the Space Warfighting Construct Vision.
The candidate will work to ensure that all systems engineering requirements and FTI tools supporting SMC/EN are installed, configured, and maintained as required per applicable directives and instructions.
Identify and apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools to support definition and refinement of space architecture artifacts.
Identify and implement systems engineering policies, procedures and operating instructions for space and cyberspace systems.
Leverage FTI small business innovation research (SBIR) analysis methods and tools to enhance engineering processes and improve rigor of Course of Action (COA) assessments.
Serves on the FTI team of Systems Engineers directly supporting all systems engineering responsibilities as identified by the SMC/EN staff.
Identify and implement strategy to apply MBSE methods and tools across SMC 2-Letters. Identify cross-cutting requirements and facilitate coordination across technical stakeholders.
Works with all SMC capability directorates to support center level engineering tasking as required to support an integrated SMC Systems Engineering approach.
Install new hardware, systems and software for networks as required.
Investigate and test FTI SBIR-developed tools to include but not limited to Integrated Cost as an Independent Variable (I-CAIV), Integrated Cost Estimation Tool (ICE), Readiness Assessment Engine (RAE), NormNet Prognostic Health Management, Integrated Sensor Analysis Tool (I-SAT), and the Extensible Load-Adaptive Processing Service (ELAPSE).
Support tracking and resolution of cross-cutting systems engineering issues identified by the SMC ESEC.
Apply MBSE methods and tools to identify and update required architecture views ranging from OV, SV and TV’s.
Support testing of integrations between FTI software solutions.
Work closely with colleagues to meet all technical and functional requirements.
Diagnose network interface issues to resolve problems and correct to minimize outage timeframe; documents network problems and resolution for future reference.
Support FTI algorithm development and system analysis teams to identify and implement fixes for abnormality detection, fault isolation and predictive analysis.
Review technical specifications, design plans, project criteria, and the team work for compliance to articulated standards while ensuring data integrity and validity.
Support the definition and refinement of requirements for space systems and the horizontal integration of technical interfaces and issues across SMC 2 letters.
Support COA assessment to resolve requirement and implementation issues; leverage the FTI I-CAIV tool to facilitate performance, cost, risk and schedule trade-offs.
Support readiness assessments across the space system lifecycle to ensure developing technology aligns with desired maturity at key milestone reviews. Leverage the FTI RAE methodology to automate the assessment process.
Identify and track key systems engineering and architecture metrics during development, test and fielding of space systems. Leverage the FTI MPAE methodology to automate the tracking and trending of metrics.
10+ years actively working as System Engineer (background in Space Systems preferred to include sensors, space vehicles and ground stations).
5+ years Space Systems acquisition in satellites, control systems, or launch vehicles.
Experience with requirements gathering and analysis
Experience with MBSE tools and space system architecture development
Familiarity with the DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) and related architecture guidance.
Experience with architecture development and requirements tracking tools such as Rational Tool Suite and DOORS
Experience developing and executing test and evaluation process
Familiarity with software configuration management processes to include source control management.
Ability to develop system architecture diagrams in MS Visio
Familiarity with MS Excel and other MS Office tools
Ability to work with cross functional team (i.e. project manager, logisticians, engineers, program analyst)
Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed team
Strong written and oral communication skills
Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is a plus
Bachelor of Science degree in Systems and/or Software Engineering, MS in Systems and/or Software Engineering desired.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance
