The Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) engineering team in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a wireless digital signal processing (DSP) engineer to lead a team of DSP engineers and work with system and design engineers to develop, code, and debug signal processing algorithms for cutting-edge wireless signal processing systems, software defined radios and related applications.

The successful candidate will be able to:
•Prototype and model algorithms in MATLAB using simulated and real data signals
•Design robust C/C++ software implementations of DSP algorithms to solve challenging communications problems
•Optimize C/C++ algorithm implementations to run on embedded DSP processors
•Test software implementations at the unit, component, and system levels to ensure robust end-to-end signal processing performance
•Lead a team of 3-5 engineers in planning and executing any of the activities listed above

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
•BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent
•6+ years of experience developing, implementing, and optimizing signal processing algorithms for communication, detection, and/or estimation systems in MATLAB and C/C++
•Strong theoretical background in DSP, digital communications, equalization and demodulation, channel coding, and related fields
•Experience with design and implementation of numerical algorithms and control logic for real-time embedded platforms
•2+ years of experience leading small teams of software engineers from the design through the system integration and test phases
•Experience with structured software development including software estimation, design documentation, conducting code/design reviews, and tracking progress
•Excellent debugging and problem solving skills through the use of lab experiments, data analysis, and software tools
•U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desirable Skills/ Experience:
•MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
•Significant experience working with 2G, 3G and/or 4G cellular standards and signals, particularly at the PHY layer
•First-hand experience working with real-world wireless data signals
•Knowledge and experience with multi-sensor techniques including beam-forming and direction finding
•Experience communicating designs, progress, test plans, and results with managers, senior technical leadership, and/or customers
•Extensive experience with Texas Instruments DSPs, particularly multi-core processors
•Working knowledge of DSP algorithm implementation in FPGA
•Active TS clearance within the last 2 years
