Description: Linguist to to work with human language technology development efforts and use new tools to help build linguistic resources to develop, evaluate and test natural language processing tools. Required Skills:
Must possess Persian SPITS Romanized expertise - fluent in both writing and conversing.
Shall have at least 2 years experience working in the required target language with at least level two plus (2+) language skills or equivalent. Specific language requirements will vary based on needs and include, but are not limited to: Arabic (and dialects), Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Punjabi, Somali, and Urdu. Apply unique language skills, building lexicons which support automated systems;
Shall have language specific knowledge of morphology, syntax and grammar and at least on year of experience applying this knowledge to create and improve models;
Experience with human language technology system development efforts and/or a background in computational or scientific linguistics;
Shall have strong analytic skills and extensive experience using information technology;
Shall have demonstrated technical writing skills and shall have generated technical documents in support of a development project;
Shall have a background in linguistic analysis which includes extensive knowledge of morphology, syntax and/or phonology.
Shall have at least level two (2) language skills in at least one (1) foreign language;
Experience with human language technology system development efforts;
Coursework or degree in linguistics or computer science;
Experience with lexicography;
Demonstrated experience with language technology metrics development (i.e. the assessment and evaluation of language analysis technology processes, tools and programs.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or other similar subject area. Experience may be substituted for degree.
