SQL Server Database Developer - Administrator

Sevatec is hiring a Database Developer/Administrator for a Department of Commerce client in Silver Spring. This premier information agency is committed to preserving and safeguarding its mission by identifying vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure and increasing operational resilience. After the initial proof of concept phase, the Database Developer/Administrator will operationalize the database. The candidate must be a self-starter and will support the government customer’s operations by providing development support and related database administration. Candidates must be Top Secret cleared with SCI eligibility. Candidates must be able to work individually as well as collaboratively in a mixed government and contractor team environment.

• Work with executive sponsors, customers and external stakeholders to translate high level requirements into database develop actions
• Research data requirements for specific applications or users, and designs database structures and application capabilities to match
• Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining a database management system (DBMS). Often tied to a specific platform such as MySQL, Access, MongoDB, SQL Server and others
• Work with generic and proprietary APIs to build applications that interact with DBMSs
• Responsible for analyzing data from multiple disparate sources to discover previously hidden insight, determine meaning behind the data and make business-specific recommendations
• Implement software development lifecycle best practices including configuration management and documentation
• Interact with a variety of operating systems, to include Windows and Linux, in both server and desktop roles
• Develop and maintain systems in virtual server and private FISMA High environments

• B.S. Degree in Computer Science (or related field), or six years’ experience in a related technical or business discipline
• Familiar with Federal Continuity Directive 1, Federal Executive Branch National Continuity Program and Requirements. Basic knowledge of related NIST, Presidential policy, Executive Orders and other Federal Continuity Directives
• Five years’ experience in database, hardware/software engineering, computer networks/security and /or information technology
• Significant development skills and experience in My SQL, MS SQL Server with expertise in T-SQL, Stored Procedures/Views/Triggers (creation, tuning, and maintenance) and RDBMS Queries
• Demonstrated and measurable experience with both Windows and Linux systems,
• Proven problem solving and teamwork skills
• Adept at configuration management and documentation
• Ability to prioritize competing, high priority needs and work well in a fast paced team environment

Security Clearance: Applicants selected must be U.S. Citizens with Top Secret and will be subject to further government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top Secret/SCI candidates preferred.
