The goal of the USAID Somalia Economic Growth (GEEL) program is to promote inclusive economic growth in Somalia. The Grants Manager is responsible for conducting day-to-day management of the grant-making mechanism, comprising grant solicitation, evaluation, award, and monitoring; Supervising the work of Grants Specialists responsible for grants awarded in southern Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland; Coordinating closely with GEEL technical and operational personnel to ensure timely delivery of appropriate grants supporting technical assistance, physical infrastructure and equipment; Coordinating closely with USAID's Task Order Contracting Officer's Representative on grants management tasks; Ensuring compliance with Grants Manual policies, practices and procedures related to all aspects of recipient monitoring and awards management; Conducting periodic grants reviews including site visits to the grantees.

  • Must have 3-5 years' experience in USAID grants design and administration, management and oversight;
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree;
  • Familiarity with USAID Contract Management and Grants Management policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; and
  • At least five years of progressively responsible work experience the area of grants management.
  • Extensive experience working with issues of gender equality and female empowerment;
  • Previous experience in Somalia;
  • Somali language skills; and
  • Prior work experience in the Sub-Saharan Africa.
