Both the public and private sectors are awash in information, the majority of which is in the form of unstructured data or text. Organizations and businesses can’t connect the dots that exist across their data. Clearly, without a new approach and better tools, there is a very real danger that non-obvious, critical concepts and relationships will be missed. Failure to discover and understand these facts and relationships across myriad, complex information sources can have tragic consequences. Digital Reasoning Systems, Inc. believes that its flagship product, Synthesys, provides a scalable solution to this problem, providing real-time, entity-oriented analysis of unstructured data, empowering the enterprise to realize the full value of the information that surrounds it.
Digital Reasoning has a unique, patented technology that meets three critical needs in the analysis of unstructured data: it understands the data in context, it’s scalable, and it’s engineered to make the output actionable. In order to truly understand human language, Digital Reasoning has built critical natural language processing, semantic analysis, entity extraction and entity resolution capabilities that can handle “messy” data such as message traffic, emails or social networking dialogue. Our approach for understanding meaning does not require a pre-determined ontology, and the approach is patented. To be able to harness this deep understanding at scale, Synthesys employs the same techniques used by Google, Twitter, and Facebook to manage millions of documents in an eventually consistent distributed architecture. Third, our system is modular and includes robust APIs that enable rich extensions, making the intelligence actionable and giving analysts the ability to assess, share and act in real-time. The combination of deep, patented understanding, web-scale architecture and the ability to plug in best of breed user interfaces, sets Synthesys apart from anything in the market.
