This is a service-oriented, technically driven LAN administrator position. The qualified candidate will work closely with senior LAN administrators to execute installs of customer systems into the Data Center and provide O&M functions for the Department of State's Oversea's Virtual Infrastructure. Position requires shift work, ability to diagnose the causal factors associated with loss of system availability. The position also requires attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions issued by LAN administrators, ESOC and customer management in a fast paced client server environment. Ability to work through issues associated with LAN configuration, software, and hardware. Ability to perform initial troubleshooting of server, problem escalation to the Senior LAN administrators. Experience with network architectures TCP/IP, server hardware/software installation, configuration and support. Install new, and upgrade existing, software, monitor daily backups of servers including conducting periodic audits. Install LAN connections in cabinets on an as needed basis. Monitor network servers and infrastructure for availability, performance issues or degradation. Provide daily support to ESOC customers. Document all changes/issues/problems related to maintaining the servers and LAN.
