The Cisco Senior Network Engineer provides technical expertise and design input for a team of engineers responsible for ensuring the continued operations, testing and functions of enterprise network assets including Cisco and Juniper routers and switches, VPNs, Red Hat Linux systems, Fortinet devices, load balancers, Wan accelerators and Domain Name System (DNS) in an enterprise secured classified and unclassified network environment.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain, configure, design, test and defend a complex global enterprise network environment.
• Analyze, design, test, install, document, and implement solutions in support of global converged network technologies.
• Configure, install, monitor, test, upgrade and maintain information assurance equipment suites and the networks that are protected by those suites in a lab environment.
• Modify Network configuration to add new network services, remove unnecessary or expired services and enhance existing services while maintaining firewall security policy.
• Resolve operational issues and provide instructions on how to fix routers, switches, VPNs, and firewalls in a global enterprise environment.
• Perform immediate troubleshooting as the situation dictates for any and all network outages as reported by users, sensors, and/or operational personnel.
• Troubleshoot layers 1-7 of the OSI model in a complex enterprise environment in both an operational and lab enviornment.
• Proactively utilize network monitoring tools to isolate events before service degradation occurs.
• Configure, install and replace Network gear as needed.
• Create technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation to support the team and DIACAP accreditation process in support of new technology or service initiatives.
• Provide instruction, mentoring, guidance, and leadership to all team personnel.
*Degree/Education Requirements:
• BS/BA degree or equivalent in engineering, business, information systems, or project related discipline.
• Additional project experience can be used to overcome a deficiency with the degree.
*Required Skills and Experience:
• Active DOD Clearance
• 10 or more years of network systems security experience.
• The Lead Engineer must possess subject matter expertise in as many of the following technologies as possible:
• Expert Experience managing Windows 2003, 2008, SSL VPN technology, Cisco PIX, Netscreen, and Fortigate firewalls.
• Expert Experience with CISCO or Juniper Network Switches and Routers.
• This position requires the ability to maintain an active Secret DOD security clearance.
• Strong writing and documentation background
• CISSP is Required.
• DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) experience
