Daily Responsibilities

SRA is seeking as Sr Systems Programmer to support the enterprise and network system for one of our clients to ensure stability and efficiency. On this program, SRA provides support to our client by managing and operating their IT infrastructure, which includes the implementation, management and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers, hardware, and SANs. SRA supports over 8,000 users at the client's headquarters and several field locations. Extensive and close working relationships are stressed in a highly technical and visible government agency; team members interact with all levels of client management in a strong team environment.

In this role, you will be needed for occasional after-hours and weekend support in order to perform upgrades and tasks that cannot be completed during regular work hours, such as disaster recovery simulations.

Key responsibilities include:
- Perform first- and second-level problem identification and resolution a including testing and applying fixes - for all hardware and software products.
- Document all problems and resolutions.
- Serve as the senior level programmer supporting remote and local customers through network and channel extension connections.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the ADABAS system and its subsequent applications.
- Determine ways to improve performance and increase system availability through Sysplex technology.
- Ensure 99.999% continuous operation in the production Logical Partitions (LPARs).
- Perform daily system maintenance using approved change management (CM) policies and procedures.
- Install and maintain software products as well as perform software maintenance.
- Implement enterprise storage management operating systems and application data.
- Perform enterprise data management functions to ensure the correct organization of data.
- Perform support functions to ensure the integrity of the enterprise software lifecycle.
- Perform enterprise change management functions to ensure the integrity of system and software baselines by coordinating all software and hardware changes.
- Update and maintain enterprise documentation and system logs.
- Perform system service level upgrades to ensure the availability of the OS and subsequent applications.
- Train junior staff in all enterprise support functions.
- Provide enterprise telecommunications and LAN support.
- Ensure the highest levels of enterprise system security by following required standards.
- Perform basic operational support, including workload management, system performance, and I/O device management.
- Follow very detailed disaster recovery instructions at the recovery site to restore systems and bring all applications and processes back online.
- Develop high availability designs to develop infrastructure capable of surviving site or hardware failure.
- Design systems utilizing the System Development Life Cycle in order to successfully meet all standards and make use of best practices.

The successful candidate will possess 70% of the following skills:
* Extensive experience in working in mainframe environments running IBM z/OS and z/VM.
* 10+ years of experience with IBM mainframe servers, including SecureWay Security, SecureWay Communications, HTTP, TelNet, and WebSphere Internet.
* 10+ years of experience running enterprise mainframes in IBM Parallel Sysplex environments.
* Extensive experience with CICS to support the high level of data processing required.
* 10+ years of systems programming experience utilizing IBM, Software AG, and Compuware products.
* 10+ years of experience with mainframe Disaster Recovery (DR) processes and procedures, including prior experience performing recovery procedures for a real (or simulated) mainframe disaster event.
* Extensive experience with IBMas RACF Security System.
* Extensive experience with IBM enterprise server platform hardware and WAN hardware.
* Experience with enterprise storage management, including previous experience implementing System Managed Storage (SMS).
* 10+ years of experience with change management (CM) best practices.
* 10+ years of experience with enterprise data management functions, including data management software.
* Experience with the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of enterprise systems.
* Experience with the enterprise software lifecycle, including testing, updates, and migrations.
* Experience with capacity planning to ensure the necessity of future IT investments.
* Experience debugging IP network problems including LAN and WAN, open system adapters, routers, and switches.
* 3+ years of experience with at least two of the following products: MVS FALCON/DE, Control-D, CCC/LCM, Decision Analyzer, Code-1 Plus, Connect:Direct and Secure+, High Level Assembler Language

* Strong oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with team members and internal and external customers, as well as produce technical documentation.
* Ability to clearly document system designs to add to existing group knowledge base and perform knowledge transfer within team.
* The ability to work in a team environment, by successfully interacting with Federal staff, other Contractors, team members and internal and external customers.
* The ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously a he/she will be tasked with project work as well as daily responsibilities.
* The candidate must possess good troubleshooting and problem- solving skills and successfully apply them to any issues that arise.
