Job Summary:
Provide scientific, engineering, and technical assistance (SETA) to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Directorate for Measurement and Signatures Intelligence (MASINT) and Technical Collection (DT), Office for Science and Technology (DTT), Applied Research and Development Division (DTT-2). SETA will be provided on-site to DTT-2 locations at Patrick AFB Florida and Tampa Florida and possibly other locations. The contractor must possess a thorough understanding of the scientific principles/theories involved in the radiological/nuclear materials area. This task requires a thorough understanding of the scientific principles for quantitative detection and identification of nuclear materials and processes with emphasis on analytical nuclear detection/identification technology.

Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with the engineering evaluation of white paper concept proposals received from industry or government to determine feasibility and adequacy of proposed technical solutions to sensor capability requirements.
- Support rigorous analysis of alternatives and trade studies to develop and recommend technical approaches and plans to develop, demonstrate and field technical collection capabilities that are responsive to validated user requirements, and executable within available resources of time and funding.
- Provide technical advice to government project management staff, prepare and/or review technical summaries, reports and engineering presentation data and graphics.
- Frequent contact with government, industry, and academic groups representing DTT-2 interests requires good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, highly flexible, team-oriented environment with individual responsibilities for internal deliverables and schedule. Track and provide status reports of routine and ad hoc taskings to include but not limited to official taskings from higher headquarters, RFIs from other organizations and white paper evaluations.

- Extensive knowledge of physics/chemistry, science, and state-of-the-art technology to enable rapid and accurate formulation of a viable solution set when presented with a novel scenario involving nuclear materials and processes.
- Knowledge of the following or closely related areas of expertise: remote detection, identification and characterization of shielded high- Z materials, remote detection and identification/characterization of facilities processing nuclear materials, advanced modeling and analysis of nuclear sampling and detection sensors, and laboratory methods for nuclear forensics and analysis.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and contract documents
- Ability to present relevant factors (both verbal and written) so that technical information is understood by non-technical end users.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Respond to inquiries from customers, management, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Knowledge and experience in the application and adaptation of Commercial-Off- the-Shelf (COTS) products to meet government system requirements.
- Knowledge of standard DoD acquisition regulations, practices and procedures is desired.
- Should have good interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator.

Education:
Required:
Graduate degree in Physics, Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 6 years experience as a scientist or engineer with 4 years specialized experience in the areas described above.
Desired: PhD preferred directly related to the physics/chemistry field. Minimum 6 years experience as a scientist or engineer with 4 years specialized experience in the areas described above.
OR
10 years experience

Special Requirements:
This position requires moderate travel, and will require extensive networking with personnel involved in the gathering of technical intelligence.
