Daily Responsibilities

Serve as part of a team of motivated expert practitioners in a range of technical disciplines who are looking to help shape the corporate position and capabilities in key technology areas for a leading federal systems integrator. Specifically, we are looking for a leader for large scale IT engineering and O&M opportunities who will serve in a series of targeted assignments as a key member of large, technically challenging programs. Through these assignments you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of information technology service management solutions across the company.

Your initial assignment will be as a Senior Systems Engineer on a team providing IT Infrastructure support for the Joint Chief of Staff including operations and maintenance of the exiting production environment as well as engineering support to enhance and modernize the current information technology services.

This is an opportunity to work with leading technology and to directly influence the technology and infrastructure for an organization that has a critical role in our nationas defense.

The customer is modernizing the server infrastructure by upgrading hardware and the operation system and leveraging VMware technology.

You will:
* Assess the current server infrastructure; identify the areas for improvement including physical servers that can be virtualized, physical servers that can be upgraded on to new hardware, and servers that can be upgraded to 64 bit.
* Assess the current security posture and design/engineer an enterprise solution including implementing processes and tools for patching and compliance with DoD and Cybercom guides and standards.
* Assess the current ability to monitor the network; identify areas for improvement including automation for discovery, improvement management and reporting through processes and tools.
* Engineer a detailed design in collaboration with the Engineering and Operation teams deployment.
* Support installation and deployment including new chassis and new HP and IBM blades.
* Develop detailed documentation for all phases of the Engineering life cycle including CONOPS, detailed design, testing plan, implementation guides and standard operating procedures

The position offers a very collaborative and dynamic work environment in which the successful candidate will have influence related to improving the IT infrastructure for the government customer. Experience with Microsoft Windows 2008 and VMware ESX 4/ESXi is required.

This position is not immediately billable, but is reflective of upcoming requirements within our organization.

- Familiarity with various business models a on premise management, private cloud, public cloud, managed services, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, remote systems/security management a with ability to define and articulate ROI/TCO
