Northrop Grumman Electronics Systems sector is seeking a System/Software Safety Engineer 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodland Hills, California. The Woodland Hills campus is situated on over 50 acres, has an on-site cafeteria, softball field, basketball courts, and offers a friendly work environment. In addition, this site follows an alternative, 9/80 workweek schedule for most positions. System / Software Safety Engineer Position available within the Engineering Operations Directorate. Position requires ability, knowledge and skills in software concept, architecture, requirements, design, code, and test analyses techniques necessary to support safety critical systems / subsystems such as those used in primary flight displays, flight control computers, etc. Requires familiarity with safety analysis techniques such as: hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, risk assessments/resolution, mishap investigations, software process safety, and Safety Assessment process. Requires familiarity with Military and their equivalent Industry Standards such as: MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1629, DO-178B/C, DO-248, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, etc. would be equivalent processes for reference. Must be capable of generating the required reports or supporting higher level reports as a result of software safety activities. Ability to take the lead on a safety critical program for software safety efforts in support of department safety activities required. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Ability to determine and specify all design requirements (hardware and software) for a system safety program as well as support the software safety results/ Assessment to the customer in a convincing manner. Should be familiar with requirements development, system/software architecture, Hardware/Software design, software code implementation, test, verification and validation. 5-10 years of Software Safety Engineering experience required with a background in avionics safety critical systems . System Safety Engineering experience recommended and the aviation experience a plus. Familiarity with requirements tools such as DOORS, software test tools, etc a plus. Security Clearance or ability to obtain clearance required.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: BS Computer Science or equivalent, 5-10 years of Software Safety Engineering experience required with a background in avionics. Security Clearance or ability to obtain required.
Preferred Qualifications: Software Safety Engineering experience required, Aviation/Avionics certification experience recommended.
