1. They support the goal of DUSD(AT&L) to revitalize SE within DoD. Most ACAT ID programs are over budget, behind schedule, and do not meet their technical performance requirements very easily.
2. Assist Defense Acquisition Boards (DABs) with making critical decisions regarding how to proceed with these programs based upon their status at major acquisition milestones
3. Help identify programmatic and technical risk and provide actionable recommendations to help triage programs in most instances to get them stable and then help them succeed.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise and support in the area of Systems Engineering as a key member of a DASD(SE) Major Program Support (MPS) Directorate review team (In particular, identify Systems Engineering-related issues and risks; perform root cause analysis; and recommend issue recovery plans or risk mitigation plans to the Director, MPS Directorate and DASD(SE), SE regarding MDAPs under review)

Required Skills  

+ Bachelors Degree in an Systems Engineering-related field (Masters preferred)
+ Experience working in the Defense Acquisition Community as a Military Officer/Government Civilian/or Contractor. Note: Large Systems Integrator experience with MDAPs as a Systems Engineer is a plus
+ Familiarity with different types of air warfare; land warfare and munitions; naval warfare; strike warfare; NBC; and C^4SIR types of systems
+ Strong background and capability in Specialty Engineering (particularly Software Engineering) on DoD military platforms
+ Experience with Systems Engineering across full DoD acquisition lifecycle on the following types of platforms:

Required Experience  

+ Familiarity with the DoD 5000 series, to include the Defense Acquisition Guide (DAG)
+ Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of Systems Engineering experience supporting MDAPs
+ Ability to work and effectively communicate (written and verbal) at the Government Service (GS) 15 grade and Senior Executive Service (SES) levels as a key member of a joint Government/Contractor team. Note: Excellent verbal/written skills to for be able to effectively present findings
+ Ability to act as an ambassador of the DUSD (AT&L) to MDAPs while participating in reviews
+ Ability to adhere to established processes and procedures
+ Proficiency on Microsoft Office
+ Be willing to travel approximately 30 percent of the year domestically (travel is planned and ad hoc)
+ Possess at least active DoD Secret Level Clearance

Ability to work full-time and on Government-site
