The Senior Network Engineer configures and maintains the network hardware, relevant applications, wiring, and routers that make up the company’s enterprise computer network. The Senior Network Engineer will communicate with users and management frequently to troubleshoot technical issues and customize network configurations that address business requirements and user needs. The Senior Network Engineer also researches different solutions to keep the computer network up-to-date with the latest technologies.

Duties (Primary)

• Provide leadership and management for a team that will include two additional network administrators.
• Designs, tests, and implements state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database products.
• Conducts risk assessment and provides recommendations for application design.
• Involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
• Uses encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research.
• May prepare security reports to regulatory agencies.
• Maintain and support hubs, routers, switches, and network devices; upgrade network devices and recommend equipment replacement as necessary.
• Perform network fixes as applicable to correct failures and provide written documentation of the event.
• Maintain remote access capability for users to access email, network files, and the organization’s intranet home page from remote locations.
• Support major network architecture changes including new device deployment and movement and wireless activities.
• Perform weekly scans of the network, document scan results, and report findings of anomalies and problems to the management team.
• Assist in responses to Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessments and record compliance as directed.
• Assist in responses to questions, tasks, and data calls from Army and Navy agencies and establish working relationships with Information Management Division staff.
• Assist in the investigations of security incidents as necessary.
• Participate in continuity of operations planning as it relates to the network.

Education and Skills:

• Candidate must have a current Security + certification.
• Candidate must have an active Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
• Demonstrated leadership experience as a Network Administrator or sufficient experience to clearly demonstrate leadership capability.
• Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 7+ years experience.
• Must be eligible to work for any employer in the U.S.

Certifications:

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
