SATCOM ACQUISITION ENGINEER
SATCOM Acquisition Engineer
With our steady growth, Octo Consulting Group has a need for a Technical Consultant to support requirements development for a critical Satellite Communications program.

Responsibilities:
– Project and customer relationship management
– Eliciting and documenting technical requirements
– Conducting discovery, including site surveys and data collection
– Evaluating IP SATCOM terminal technology products
– Contributing to Business Cases and Analyses of Alternatives
– Conducting and documenting Market Research
– Facilitating vendor-government Technical Interchange Meetings
– Developing acquisition-related requirements documentation (e.g., Lists of Materials, Technical Specifications)
– Contributing to cross-functional (business and technical) team discussions
– Working with SATCOM industry product and service providers
– Evaluating open standards and cyber security compliance
Required knowledge and experience with the following:
– Demonstrated strong technical consultant fundamentals (information gathering, hypotheses development, analyses and recommendations)
– Enterprise IT network integration, specifically satellite communications (SATCOM) over IP
– Full-lifecycle IT/C4I systems management
– SATCOM industry and marketplace knowledge
– Knowledge of or experience with DoD Teleport system and STEP

Required qualities/skills:
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Strong consulting and client management skills
– Project management, analytical and critical thinking skills
– 8-10 years’ work experience
– Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or other technical discipline
– Desire to work in a collaborative environment, and to solicit and provide constructive feedback
– Ability to think strategically, and actively participate in discussions with client, management and staff
– Ability to work autonomously and build relationships
– Testing and network management experience


Desired experience and/or familiarity with the following:
– Federal Government experience (DoD preferred)
– Network engineer certification preferred
– SATCOM technology and industry familiarity
– Facilitation experience
– Technology roadmapping and tech refresh planning
– Open IT standards
– Cyber security and/or DIACAP
