| Mechanical Engineer |

Government Communications Laboratory is seeking a versatile, innovative, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead the physical design of radio and opto electronic subsystems for high reliability military operations. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical design and modeling skills and be able to lead a small, integrated product team through all phases of product development, from requirements generation, concept generation, design, qualification, manufacture, and deployment while meting technical, cost and schedule objectives. Position requires working with component vendors on performance and reliability issues, modeling and realizing opto electric hardware and module designs that are environmentally hardened. MUST be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Skills/Experience: Lead Mechanical Engineering experience with challenging thermal & physical environments, applying advanced concepts for thermal management, finite element, modeling, reliability. Rapid prototyping, CAD tools, using prototype plotters, etc. Advanced RF antenna knowledge, Electro-Magnetics knowledge and simulation a plus. Experience in photonic and opto electric component design, opto electric subassembly layout including fiber routing, electro-optic board physical design, and chassis and enclosure design are strongly preferred. B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field is required. Position requires a proficient use of computer-aided drafting skills (Solid Works strongly preferred) as well as expert ability to perform and interpret thermal and structural analysis. Experience with military design standards is strongly preferred. Prior experience to with optic fiber splicing and familiarity with photonic and opto electric devices and test equipments such as lasers, photo detectors, optical spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters are preferred. Good oral/written communication skills are necessary. Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Power Point are strongly desired. All candidates MUST be a U.S. citizen capable of being granted a U.S. security clearance.
Salary range for this position will be around the $90,000 mark with a bonus of 10%. Base salary may be higher for the right candidate based on skill-set and experience.
