Systems Administrator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Part of a team of network systems administrators. Responsible for the administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of an Enterprise-class Army System. Performs system backups, hardware/software installation and upgrades. Troubleshoots server, user and network issues related to the Microsoft Windows network operating system environment, as well as server based applications.
Core Responsibilities:
' All aspects of Systems Administration to include but not limit to Microsoft 2003 Active Directory and NT 4 domain, WINS, DNS, print queues.
' Daily administration of Exchange 2003 and 5.5 and Outlook Web Access.
' Microsoft SMS, MOM and SUS.
' Veritas BackupExec 8.6 & 9 Backup / Restores.
' Maintain Systems Availability and perform regular maintenance on equipments.
' Proficient at hardware maintenance and troubleshooting of various Dell Server, LTO tape library, fiber switch, and SAN.
' Maintaining virus / security requirements by the US Army.
' Provide user and Microsoft Exchange account maintenance of over 5000 users.
' Performs other duties as required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Working environment will be 90% office and 10% desktop support. Individual should be able to lift up to 20 lbs unassisted. Work environment will also be very hot due to conditions within the region.
FREEDOM TO ACT: The position will be a direct report to Senior Systems Administrator but also will be directed by various Site Managers.
Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
Experience:
In addition to excellent oral and written communications skills, should have a minimum of four years experience in managing, analyzing and troubleshooting networks to include domain level Microsoft Windows NT, 2000 & 2003 Server Operating System, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Exchange applications. Systems Administrators shall have experience in exercising network security requirements, establishing security protocols and procedures, and maintaining network security within the last five years.
Must have demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot system hardware and software problems to full resolution. MCSE preferred.
Special Techniques:
- Experience in supporting classified network
- Personnel shall have the knowledge to install, configuration and support Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 5.5, troubleshooting mail delivery problems, optimizing with database compacting and maintenance procedures and be familiar with other Exchange Admin tools, such as but not limit to nslookup & ExMerge.
- Respond to Security Incidents (SI) wherein classified information is wrongly placed on unclassified network. Identification, remediation, and reporting will be required. Personnel must have at least a secret clearance to perform this task.
- Operate and maintain IIS 5 and IIS 6 web servers. Proficient with the use of integrating Microsoft Access, SQL, and other ODBC compliant databases into web pages as well as the use of HTML & ASP.
- Personnel shall have the knowledge to develop and support network applications. Have specific expertise in Microsoft Exchange mail, domain administration, network/system security, and Microsoft operating systems and applications. Expertise with specific hardware/software shall include but not limit to, Dell Servers, Fiber switches, SAN, Windows NT, Windows 2000, XP, Symantec Antivirus, Microsoft SMS, MOM & SUS, basic scripting.
