AS an IT Specialist, you will support a classified military intelligence system by acting as a “jack of all trades” performing quick-response Java code fixes and modifications to support analyst requests. You will need to interact with a very large database, via SQL to retrieve mission information on an ad-hoc basis, and you may be called upon to assist with other areas requiring creative IT problem solving – from server setup to networking.
The software system that we are developing processes for a large volume of digital systems. The binary data streams will be parsed and used to populate a very large database. Then a front-end tool that is being developed will explore the data; and then plot the data points in many different visual displays such as maps with overlays representing time, frequency, etc. This system will help analysts efficiently visualize and explore large amounts of data.
You will be both living and working exclusively in the secure Iraq “Green Zone”.

The Company |
Platinum Solutions, Inc. is an award-winning developer of innovative, secure systems for improving business and government operations. With particular expertise in law enforcement, intelligence, defense, homeland security and healthcare, we offer creative solutions to those responsible for ensuring the nation's security and public safety. In a nutshell, Platinum Solutions creates software that saves lives. Our software helps the federal government monitor terrorist communications, arrest violent criminals, and improve the safety of prescription drugs. Platinum Solutions developed a tailored iterative, or agile, development methodology that was modified from the mainstream agile development methodology to comply with CMMI guidelines. This Platinum Solutions Delivery Methodology (PSDM) preserves many of the benefits of agile development, such as collective ownership, test-driven development, and increased customer collaboration. We develop custom software based on open standards so that our clients can quickly respond to a changing world.
We are ranked the 61st Fastest Growing Private Company in the U.S., 2006 Inc. Magazine and are number 10 on the 2006 Washington Technology Fast 50 List. Platinum Solutions is headquartered in Reston, Virginia and serves the Washington, D.C. metro and Norfolk/Virginia Beach metro areas.
On a day-to-day basis our employees say that they like the interesting work we do and being part of projects that make a difference. Just about every week there's an article in the newspaper about a criminal being apprehended and although we're rarely mentioned we know our software helped make that happen. Our software helps catch violent criminals, child pornographers and aid in negotiation of hostage situations.
We like to say that we work hard and we play hard. Platinum Solutions was featured in The Washington Post's article, "Where Xbox Meets Lunchbox: Video Games Are the New Foosball at Firms Where Young Workers Dominate." Every day at Platinum Solutions, for a quick break before lunch, it's time for some Halo 2, the hit sci-fi "shooter" game that pits aliens against space marines -- or colleague against colleague, in this case.
