Finance – VP of Finance  
Job Description:

We are currently seeking a VP of Finance that will report to the President/CEO.

This individual manages a team of professionals including general accounting, finance and budgeting staff as well as members of the contracting and program control staff. He/she provides oversight of the financial management of Company's programs and is responsible for advising on, designing and maintaining Company financial management policies and systems. The VP of Finance serves on the senior management team of the Company and on the Board of Directors and provides overall direction of the Company's Accounting and Finance, Contracts, and Program Control teams within the guidelines set up by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:
• Provides financial modeling and projections, including cost-benefit analysis, pro-forma P&Ls, balance sheet and cash flows.
• Responsible for preparation and presentation of financial information for the Board of Directors.
• Manages relationships with banking and financial institutions.
• Responsible for all corporate tax analysis and filings.
• Provides timely and accurate regulatory filings.
• Generates forecasts and analyzes trends in sales, profitability and other areas of business. Presents findings and recommendations to management.
• Shares responsibility with the CEO and COO for the overall revenue and operating income of the business to ensure established financial targets are achieved.
• Proactively monitors trends to identify risks and opportunities across key revenue and expense categories. Establishes benchmarks and scorecards to assist leadership in managing their functions in a fiscally disciplined manner.
• Works with business unit leaders to create understanding of key financial metrics and how to track for desired results.
• Oversees contracting processes, including direct contracts with US Government, as well as other Prime contractors and subcontractor management.
• Manages program-level performance analysis and reporting processes, as well as guiding performance improvement efforts.
• Analyzes operations to evaluate performance of the company and its staff in meeting objectives and to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement or policy change.
• Prepares and presents reports concerning activities, expenses, budgets, government statutes and rulings and other items affecting the business.
• Manages the business planning and budgeting processes, garnering input from department directors, compiling projections and presenting and justifying the proposed budgets to the Board of Directors for approval.
• Oversees all expenditures, ensuring that expenses are on target with budgeted line items. Provides a comparison of actual expenses and revenues to projections.
• Generates and presents monthly financial reports for Internal Operations Review, as well as, monthly financial statements for the parent company and quarterly reports to be used in the parent company operations review.
• Responsible for timely and accurate month-end closing of the books and reporting to the parent company.
• Works closely with the senior staff and selected board members in the development of strategic plan and its impact on the organizational budget and finances.


Requirements:
• Candidate MUST have commercial satellite experience!
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field - MBA preferred.
• 10 years of progressive financial management leadership experience.
• Certified Public Accountant.
• Working knowledge of US Government Contracting principles.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and other regulatory requirements with an ability to apply that knowledge to both practical and theoretical situations, specifically exposure to CAS operating environment.
• Hands on exposure to US Government contracting practices and FAR.
• Exposure to Program Management and control principles.
• Ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting and operational issues, assess their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan.
• Strong ability to drive revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives.
• Solid organizational, problem solving and inter-personal skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and executive presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to source and select, develop, promote and retain top financial talent.
• Effective coach and mentor to management and staff personnel.
• Experience with compliance and field audit reviews.
• Well organized, self-starting individual with high ethical standards, professional demeanor and an ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Exhibits timely and effective response to any and all inquires or complaints. Excellent Customer Service skills required.
• Knowledge of Accounting business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people/resources.
• Knowledge of Deltek CostPoint, Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Access, Word, Project) and Cognos financial reporting tool.
• Ability to perform occasional travel.
