POSITION
IT Specialist
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Performed: Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
•Provide Support for recommending and configuring hardware/software components
• Review the security compliance of the computer systems and make recommendations and/or effect appropriate modifications to improve system security, through-put, and effectiveness.
• Implement approved system changes based on IAVA notices and JTF-GNO guidelines.
• Continuously update all network servers and workstations to current approved version of anti-viral software.
•Provide installation testing and maintenance of Operating System and Applications Software.
•Install and configure Operating System software as required.
•Analyze and diagnose system failures to determine the cause or causes, and make written recommendations for corrective action.
•Test proposed procedures and operating system patches for correctness and compatibility with existing application software and procedures.
•Provide technical support to establish effective operational procedures which includes providing assistance in developing or identifying standard systems operating procedures and tools.
•Provide assistance to users in the development of technical requirements.
•Provide technical guidance to and work with user representatives in their function of network security requirements.
•Advise alternate methods of approach and recommend appropriate changes to systems to reduce and/or eliminate vulnerabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Special Knowledge Required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems or Systems Administration is desired but equivalent experience is acceptable.
Candidate must have experience in Windows Administrator-2003, VM Ware Administration, Desktop Support, and System Certification & Accreditation.
Candidate will be subject to a Government Security Investigation, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
